The American Cemetery - 200 2nd Street Natchitoches, LA
October 7, 2017, 3:00 - 6:00pm. Tickets $15 for Adults, children 12 and under are free.
During this event. the Foundation spotlights the lives and accomplishments of people interred in the American Cemetery through vignettes provided by costumed actors portraying historically significant people. The tour also includes mourning and burial memorabilia unique to the region going back several decades. Docents educate visitors about the traditions of death and dying in the South.
The tour begins at the American Cemetery entrance, located just to the north of Holy Cross Church on Second Street, parking is available north of the Cemetery. Tickets may be purchased at the entrance on Second Street. All proceeds raised from the tour will be used for historic preservation, restoration, and educational projects in Natchitoches.

The Christmas Tour of Homes is a holiday tour of uniquely decorated homes in the Natchitoches, Louisiana. The event, will feature docent led commentaries on the history of each property as well as the unique holiday decorations. This unique tour consists of homes built last year as well as nearly 200 years ago.
The Christmas Tour of Homes is a walking tour. Thursday night tours are sponsored by Maglieaux's and The Landing and will feature a complimentary glass of wine at the end of the tour. The Saturday tours will trace Steel Magnolia venues and will include photo opportunities of sites included on the tour. Friday night sites can be accessed in conjunction with Christmas Along Poete. Tickets for Christmas Along Poete will be available at each end of Poete Street which will be closed to traffic.
We invite you to experience the charm of historic Natchitoches during this annual holiday event. Proceeds from the Tour benefit restoration of properties in the Natchitoches Parish area.

Christmas along Poete

For the first time, NHF will close Poete Street between Jefferson St. and Second St. to highlight venues for Mrs. Claus with her cookies to decorate, Santa's elves helping children create ornaments from natural materials, dancers celebrating the season, musicians playing seasonal music, and other events for family fun. Additionally, houses along Poete will be open for touring.
American Cemetery Cleanup
Periodically, the Natchitoches Historic Foundation sponsors cemetery clean ups in the community, primarily in the American Cemetery. The The American Cemetery was established around 1737 and is the oldest cemetery in the Louisiana Purchase. Foundation members and volunteers clean the headstones and gravesites with great care. Cemetery cleaning events are held throughout the year.
